Ghost in the Desert

This is the story of the Apache Kid, who was one of the most famous outlaws in Arizona History. His interaction with Al Sieber, the famous tracker
and Indian Scout, as well as his close relationships with the famous Arizona Rodeo Cowboy and Scout, Tom Horn.
Also his relationship with General Crooks Chief of Scouts, Colonel Clay Beauford who as the record shows was the Kid’s closest friend and the intense
love of a beautiful Apache maiden, are all covered in this story. The story opens with the Kid’s life growing up as an Apache brave in his village,
Wheatfields and follows his life as he becomes the youngest Sergeant of Scouts in General George Crooks 6th regiment which was based here in Arizona Territory.
The betrayal of the Indian Scouts by General Phillip Sheridan, who was at that time the Secretary of War and to General Crook’s dismay that
eventually caused the major unrest at the San Carlos Indian Reservation.
The Apache Kid’s betrayal by the Army and hated by his own people does not, by any means justify the fact that he became one of the most notorious
killers in our young Arizona territory but the reader will be presented all of the facts that caused his actions and can make their own decision.
